ABOUT USDr. McDowell
Dr. McDowell is a 1980 graduate of Loyola University School of Dentistry (cum laude), and has completed well over 700 hours of continuing education during his career. Dr. McDowell has been a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Illinois State Dental Society (ISDS) & the McHenry County Dental Society (MCDS) continually since 1980. He is also a member of the American College of Dentists (Honorary National Dental Society). Dr. McDowell has served in all officer positions of the MCDS (President in 1991-1992), and currently chairs 3 committees in that organization. As a member of the ISDS, Dr. McDowell has served on numerous committees, represented McHenry County as a delegate to the ISDS House of Delegates for over 10 years, served for 11 years (2001 -2012) as a Director for the ISDS DENT-IL PAC (political action committee), and recently (2009-2012) represented the Northwestern District of Illinois as a Trustee on the Illinois State Dental Society Board of Trustees.
Dr. McDowell has lived in Crystal Lake since 1980. He has three children; Gary (Mandy) - PhD in creative writing & contemporary American literature (WMU) - currently on the English Department faculty at Belmont University in Nashville TN, Kristi (Dan) - B.A. in psychology & a homemaker, & Andrew - B.A. from Columbia College of Chicago in Film & Video - enjoying a career traveling across the country employed by a Chicago based audio-visual special event company. When not at the office, Dr. McDowell enjoys golfing, fishing, yard work, building scale model ship replicas & spending quality time with his grandchildren. Ms. Cory Giglio
Cory is our office manager and has been a part of our practice since 1988. She resides in Wonder Lake with her husband and her college bound daughter. She began working in our office shortly after high school and has become the "rock" and "backbone" of our practice. Any questions you may have about our practice, I'm sure Cory can help you. Joy is my dental assistant and joined our practice in February 2012. I have known Joy and she has been a family friend for over thirty years. She has many years of experience as a dental assistant in all aspects of dental treatment. Joy takes great pride in offering calming and caring patient care. Joy has 2 daughters and 1 son. When not working, she enjoys the outdoors, cooking, gardening, reading, and family time.
